Where to vote early in the 2023 Toronto mayoral by-election
During advance voting from June 8 to 13, Torontonians can cast a ballot from any available voting location.
Don’t look now, Toronto, but we’re less than a month out from another election. For those getting a weird sense of deja vu, that’s probably because of the three other elections we’ve seen within the past two years:
- Federal election: Sept. 20, 2021
- Ontario provincial election: June 2, 2022
- Toronto municipal election: Oct. 24, 2022
This upcoming one, of course, was unforeseen. On June 26, eligible Toronto voters will determine who gets to fill the mayoral position vacated by John Tory in February.
While Toronto’s most recent municipal election featured relatively few challengers to the incumbent Tory, the by-election features over 100 candidates. Click here for our breakdown of eight of the top names.
Once you know who you’re voting for, you won’t need to wait until June 26 to cast your ballot. Also, as opposed to advance voting in regularly scheduled elections, you won’t need to be all that near your home when you go to the polls.
Read on for the details.
How to vote early in the 2023 Toronto mayoral by-election
For those unavailable on June 26 — or those who simply hate putting off until June 26 what they can do two weeks earlier — there’s advance voting.
The advance-voting window runs from June 8 to 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at each of 50 locations. And there’s a unique 2023 by-election wrinkle: Because there’s only one race and therefore only one ballot, all eligible voters can vote at any location during the window.
Check the map accompanying this article for the places you can cast a vote during advance voting.
Imporant note: On the June 26 election day, each voter must cast a ballot at their designated voting location. Check back here for a map of those locations once the advance-voting window closes, or visit the City of Toronto’s MyVote page starting on June 1.
