Toronto splash pads and wading pools are open for the season. Here’s where you can find them.
Families rejoice. The City’s outdoor water-play hot spots are here for the summer.
They’re a homing beacon for Toronto families looking to beat the heat — not to mention a right of passage into the summer months. And the long wait for their return is over.
Outside of a few exceptions at sites undergoing maintenance, Toronto’s spray and splash pads opened on May 20 and will stay open through Sept. 17.
According to the City website, there are 159 of the water-play areas scattered across the city. Designs vary from place to place, but each is activated with push-button features.
“Splash and spray pads are fantastic places for children and Toronto families to play and cool off on hot and sunny days. Best of all, they are fun and free for all to enjoy,” said Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie in a press release.
What’s more, as of June 30, the City opened its 90 wading pools as well. These are supervised and stay open through Sept. 3, though they can close due to inclement weather. Hours depend on location.
