Photo of the Day: Toronto FC heading in the right direction
The MLS side broke their lengthy winless streak, and photographer Spencer Colby was on hand to capture the moment.
Toronto FC’s history is littered with rough stretches — especially in the club’s early period when they failed to make the playoffs in their first eight years of existence.
But with a 2017 MLS Cup still not that far off in the rearview, TFC’s recent 13-game winless streak hit just a bit harder.
Thankfully, the Reds put the streak behind them with a 3–1 home victory Wednesday night over the Philadelphia Union — all in front of newly minted head coach John Herdman, who was hired on Monday and takes the reins in October.
Abdulhamid Ibrahim covered the game for The Canadian Press, and noted interim coach Terry Dunfield beamed as he walked into the post-game press conference. Ibrahim also collected this ebullient quote from Dunfield.
“It was incredible. How much fun was it watching our boys play? With all due respect to Philly, I just thought it was amazing for our guys to show their quality … really proud of the team.”
Also on hand to snap pics for CP was Spencer Colby, who got the action-packed image of Spanish midfielder Alonso Coello heading the ball at the top of the page.
