Introducing the Torontoverse libraries layer
A tool for finding a library near you — and finding out what’s going on there.
Welcome to the Torontoverse libraries layer. It helps you visualize the entire network of Toronto Public Library branches, all in one zoomable map.
With 100 individual branches, the TPL is the largest public library system in North America. It’s also one of the best, most accessible services the city offers (especially now that late fees have been done away with). That said, each branch has its own hours and programs — so it’s easy to get lost or miss out.
This feature makes it easy to check out libraries where you are or where you’ll be later, scanning for hours, accessibility, and programs — and it auto-updates so you never need to worry if it’s current.
Here are some key points as you poke around the layer:
- To filter by libraries that are open now, simply toggle the switches.
- Ditto for filtering by region. Just click on the “Regions” header to invert selections, as described above.
- Hover over a library for more details — such as hours and program times. Then click through to the library’s official website if you’re looking for even more info.
Is there anything you’d like to see added to this layer? If so, email us at user-feedback@geomodul.us.
